Can you plan a trip in Google Maps?
Google Maps handles saving and mapping places well through Lists, and it has no concept of days, order, or a group. You can star fifty restaurants in Rome and see them all on a map, and you can't turn them into a Tuesday, give four friends editing rights, or attach a reservation time to one. That's the gap a trip planner fills.
For what it does, Lists are hard to beat. Saving is one tap, the data is excellent, and everything you save is available offline in the app you already navigate with. For a running list of places in a city you visit often, that's the right tool.
The limits show up when a list becomes a trip. There's no day structure, so a list of fifty places gives you no help deciding which nine are Tuesday. Sharing is read-only in practice for group planning, so six people can't build one list together. And there's nowhere to put the things that make a trip a trip: the flight time, the hotel, the dinner reservation at 9pm on the second night.
A reasonable approach is to use both. Keep saving in Maps as you find things, then move the places into a planner when you're deciding what happens on which day and who else needs to see it. Arriv imports a list of place names directly, so the handoff is a paste rather than a re-entry.
