How do you plan a trip with friends?
Settle three things in order: who is coming, the dates, then the destination. Collect suggestions somewhere shared instead of the group chat, put contested choices to a vote, and give one person authority to book. Group trips stall because the destination gets debated before the headcount and the dates are known, which makes every option hypothetical.
The group chat is the problem. Suggestions arrive as links and screenshots between other conversations, nobody can see the current state of the plan, and the same three questions get asked weekly. Moving the plan somewhere it can be seen at a glance removes most of that overhead by itself.
Votes work better than consensus. Asking an open question to eight people produces silence and then a late objection; asking them to choose between three named options produces an answer in a day. Record the result somewhere visible so the decision stays made.
One person needs booking authority. Not to decide everything, but to press the button once a vote lands, because a house that requires unanimous agreement to reserve will be gone by the time it arrives.
